The incredible detail inherent in our sculptures is created as every piece is cast in brass by the "Lost Wax" method, one at a time, ensuring exceptionally fine detail and lasting beauty. Our pieces are designed to convey feelings of sentiment, magic and amusement, and delight a discriminating clientele who appreciate craftsmanship 100 years behind the times... The exceptional detail inherent in our sculptures is created as every piece is cast by the "cire perdue," or "lost wax" method, dating back to ancient Egypt and refined in Rome and later Paris. After a mold is created from an original sculpture, wax is poured into the mold, and after hardening and removing the mold, all the details are perfected. The wax impression is encased inside and out with refined clay. Once the clay sets, the wax impression is fired in a kiln; the wax melts out of the clay mold, and is "lost." The void created by the melted wax in the clay mold is then filled with molten brass, which is identical to the wax impression it replaced. The clay mold surrounding and inside the sculpture is delicately removed, revealing the cast sculpture, which is subsequently finished by buffing, polishing and patinizing to give the piece its final verdigris (green-grey) or bronze lustre. This labor intensive method of lost wax casting produces unique sculptures with exceptionally fine detail of lasting durability, and which are aesthetically warm and ruggedly handsome. Each piece is cast and assembled by our artists one at a time, just as the originals were. This warranty does not cover the failure of furniture that, in Telescope's opinion, was caused by acts of God, accident, neglect, improper shipping or handling or by unreasonable or abusive use, and is void if our care and maintenance instructions were not properly followed. Furniture used in a commercial setting is not warranted unless it is specifically designated for commercial use as noted by a CQ (commercial quality) in our price index, in which case it is warranted from either one or five years from the date of purchase. Furniture stored outside or in other cold storage should be drained of any water. If allowed to freeze inside the furniture, water can damage the tubing. Such damage is not covered under our product warranty. No returns will be accepted by our factory without prior written authorization from our Customer Service Department.
