Honeysuckle - Honeybush
Honeybush Honeysuckle, Lonicera periclymenum 'Honeybush', is a groundcover form of our familiar native climber. Sprays of old fashion honeysuckle flowers of red and cream adorn the plant from June to August. Plant it where you'll be able to enjoy the wonderful fragrance. Prefers full sun and moist, well-drained soils. It grows 2 feet in height and has a 4 foot spread. Honeysuckles are easy to grow, vigorous, heat-tolerant, and nearly indestructible. The flashy and fragrant flowers will attract hummingbirds and butterflies all summer long. Lilac - Minuet
Minuet Lilac, Syringa 'Minuet', is a light purple flower that buds open into single, fragrant, soft white-pink blooms. This compact, slow growing lilac has large, dark green leaves that fully clothe the branches. Minuet is a great dwarf plant with fragrant light purple blooms. It requires full sun for exceptionally profuse bloom production. Minuet adapts to many soil types, not invasive, and suckering is minimal. It is easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soil in full sun. It tolerates light shade, but best bloom quality and disease resistance occur in full sun. It prefers rich, moist, neutral soils. Lilac - Mme Lemoine
Mme. Lemoine Lilac, Syringa vulgaris 'Mme. Lemoine', is a French Hybrid Lilac that forms a wide spreading plant with double, fragrant, pure white flowers produced freely in May. It displays shiny, dark green summer foliage. It doesn't tend to sucker like most other lilacs. Ideal as a cut flower and a single cluster can scent an entire room! It is easily grown in average, medium moist, well-drained soil in full sun. Mme. Lemoine Lilac tolerates light shade, but best bloom is in full sun. It prefers organically rich, slightly acidic soils with good drainage. Once it is established, it only needs occasional watering. Being very showy and extremely fragrant, it makes a wonderful screen or border specimen. This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds and grows 8-10 feet tall and 10 feet wide. Nanking Cherry
Nanking Cherry, Prunus tomentosa, has showy white flowers with a pink blush which covers the plant in early spring. This is followed by tasty, edible, bright red fruit, great for jams and jelly. These 1/2" bright red fruit, which ripen in early July, are edible but a little tart for fresh eating. Nanking Cherry is a large wide spreading shrub and can be pruned as a small tree. It grows 8-10 feet in height and 10-15 feet wide. It is a great conservation plant with attractive soft green foliage. The plant works well as a mass planting or informal hedge. Nanking Cherry is native to northern China and is very cold hardy. Requires a good, well drained soil. Nanking Cherry is fairly drought tolerant and does best in full sun.
