The Sweet Bell Pepper Purple Beauty, 'Capsicum annuum', is a compact plant with very meaty, thick-fleshed, sweet, purple peppers. It is unlike most peppers which start out green, this one starts out purple and provides color early in the season. This is another exciting pepper to add to your collection of beautiful sweet bell peppers. Mix the Purple Beauty with red, green, yellow, orange, and chocolate peppers for a pallet of color. Viburnum - Northern Burgundy Arrowwood
Northern Burgundy? Arrowwood Viburnum, viburnum dentatum 'Morton', is an upright, rounded, multi-stemmed shrub that displays creamy white flowers. The branching is upright and spreading, eventually arching over at the tips. It blooms in late June above the glossy, dark green foliage. Northern Burgundy has a spectacular fall color display with clusters of blue-black fruit hanging among the burgundy foliage. Its fruits attract birds. The fall color development is highly dependent on the individual plant; some plants turn yellow; some plants turn red to reddish purple. Northern Burgundy is very easy to grow and requires full sun to partial shade with soil that is from dry to fairly wet. It is easily transplanted and can grow 10-12 feet in height and width. Shasta Doublefile Viburnum, viburnum plicatum 'Shasta', is a shrub with horizontal growth, twice as wide as high. Large, exquisite, white flowers in May are followed by scarlet-red fruit in late July and August. The green foliage turns plum color in fall. It has a broad to rounded shape at maturity and grows 6 feet tall and 10-12 feet wide. It grows well in many exposures and soils, but does best in full sun with moderate moisture and well-drained soils. It does require some light shade in more southern areas. Shasta Doublefile can be planted as a specimen plant, massed group, or a shrub border. It creates a good horizontal element in the landscape, particularly effective planted so as to be viewed from above.
