Copper will weather to a beautiful patina while maintaining its structural integrity. Some minor assembly is required.Cooking over this copper pit is completely safe as there are no chemicals used in the base metal; however for your safety the units are cleaned with a solvent prior to packaging. To make absolutely certain that all residual solvent is gone you should burn a normal fire in the pit.
